Our lives are filled with great adventures, inspiring milestones, and moments of celebration. Whether you’re an adventurer, a geek, a competitor, a misfit, a thinker, or a dreamer. Whether it's an accomplishment, memory, or destination we all hold the places where life happens close to our hearts. From mountains, to islands, and places out of this world; from great cities, to beach towns, ski towns, and college towns, to your town.
Now you can bring all of those places home.
Your habitat should be more than just habitable. That’s where we come in. We design contemporary home goods and other products with the philosophy that life is meant to be fun and interesting.
We are passionate about elevating the mundane and bringing our home experience to a new level. With all of life's great adventures that we look forward to, dream about, and remember fondly... why shouldn't you be able to bring those places into your hands to enjoy every day?
Our founder, Brian Johnson, started theUncommonGreen in 2009 to make everyday products that meld artistry with functionality, practicality with wit, and style with sustainability. Drawing inspiration from his background in mechanical engineering, industrial design, and product development, Brian started looking for ways to incorporate high-performance industrial materials into designs for the home. Among his earliest creations was an end table made with "flotsam", a composite used on the decks of U.S. Navy Destroyers and deep sea applications for buoyancy control. Another was the Pi Bottle Opener, a piece of pure steel that relentlessly cracks open beers while paying homage to our favorite irrational constant. As new designs piled up in his apartment, it became clear that they were ready to be shared, and thus the UCG was born.
Along the way, Brian’s college buddies Dave, Neil, and Colin came on board to help propel the UCG vision that great design really can make the world a better place to live. Ever since, we've been committed to building our company on five essential qualities—creativity, ingenuity, craftsmanship, honesty, and pride.
We aim to bring to you exceptional goods with a conscience. We are passionate about sourcing our materials and packaging from U.S.-based companies whenever possible, and we're all about partnering with local artisans and small businesses to bring our designs to life. We strive to minimize our impact on our environment by using Earth-friendly materials and practices while making a difference in our communities through charitable giving and public service. These core values—and a promise to treat every customer like family—are behind everything we do.
So thanks for visiting with us. Stay as long as you like and come on back any time!
